Beard Itch – How To Prevent Beard Itch

There aren’t many things on this planet that are as annoying as beard itch / itchy beards. While it can drive you crazy enough to force you to shave everything away, here are some tips that can help you reduce your beard itch and solve your troubles with ease.

beard itch

Use Quality Razors

People using daily disposable razors to shave are more susceptible to beard itch problems compared to those using electric razors. A cheap razor can cause ingrown hairs and razor burn. By spending your money on a long-lasting product, you will save both time and your beard simultaneously.

Exfoliate Regularly

Dry skin can accumulate over time and cause beard itching. By exfoliating regularly using abrasive pads or creams, you can eliminate dead cells & skin from the surface. If you apply a high-quality exfoliant to your skin every 3-4 days, preferably after you’ve completed shaving, you can remove dead cells from your beard and keep it fresh, thus minimizing beard itch.

Moisturize Regularly

Your beard itch can be minimized by moisturizing the affected areas as well. Good moisturizers, especially those that are SPF 30 and above, can be used on the skin and beard daily after waking up. The sunblock can protect the skin and keep your facial area moisturized throughout the day as well.

Condition Regularly

Beard hair tends to be coarse and is susceptible to becoming itchy & ingrown. Conditioning your beard regularly can help you bring this down to acceptable levels. Good conditioners like argan oil are helpful for softening the beard. You can condition your beard daily to derive maximum benefits.

Give Your Face A Good Washing Every Day

If you want to eliminate beard itch, it is important to practice good hygiene. Natural oils, debris, and bacteria tend to accumulate in the beard over time. The bacteria and the oils can irritate your skin and cause itching. By washing the face early during the morning after waking up & before you go to sleep, you can eliminate natural oils & ensure your beard remains clean.

Follow A Strict Shaving Schedule Religiously

While it may sound ridiculous at first, having a strict shaving schedule will control your beard itch effectively. If you’re someone who shaves their hair at irregular intervals, that increases the risk of razor irritation and ingrown hair. You can also use scissors for trimming your beard, in case you only want to groom it and not shave it away completely.

Consult a Doctor

If none of these suggestions have helped you overcome your persistent beard itch, it may be possible that you’ve got a medical condition that’s affecting your beard. A skin disorder like psoriasis or eczema, bacterial or fungal infections & folliculitis can cause beard itch problems and require medical treatment to be resolved. People with medical issues should find and treat the underlying condition at the earliest to eliminate beard itch. If you’ve got scaly, red patches or excess dry skin or feel an intense need to itch constantly, we recommend consulting your doctor as soon as you can.

In Conclusion

There are a number of steps that you can utilize for curing your annoying beard itch. If you practice good hygiene and apply moisturizers and oils regularly, or consult the doctor (if needed), you can erase your beard itch problems without an issue.
